Celebrated annually from September 15 to October 15, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to reflect on the rich history, culture, and vast contributions of this diverse community of American citizens, whose ancestors hail from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
Hispanic Heritage Month presents an excellent opportunity to honor, and learn more about, the unique voices and perspectives that make up this fascinating culture. You will find everything from family storytimes and fun crafting classes to enriching events and programs, live performances, and art exhibits at our 15 award-winning galleries, by checking out the Library District’s FREE Hispanic Heritage Month events and enriching programs! We truly have something for everyone at our 25 unique branches throughout the month.
We have also compiled a curated selection of books, music, and movies featuring Hispanic themes, that you can check out, download, or stream from our vast collection. You will also find educational and entertaining online resources that you can browse 24/7 with your FREE library card...such as learning to speak Spanish!

Cuerdas Latinas: Celebrate the Rich Musical Heritage of Latin America with Kyle Khembo
Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with this unique classical guitar performance presented by award-winning artist, Kyle Khembo. This FREE concert will feature a selection of music by celebrated Latin American composers including Agustin Barrios, Antonio José, Marco Pereira, Leo Brouwer, and more!
The Sonz Live in Concert
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the unique sounds of the Spanish Rock Band -- The Sonz. They will be performing the best of Spanish rock music, Cumbias, and 80's rock-- with vocals performed in English and Spanish. This FREE concert is sure to get you dancing and singing!
Fiesta Folklorico: Una Celebración de Baile
The Baile Folklorico covers a wide range of dance forms that developed from the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. These dance forms stem from the country's Indigenous, European, and African heritages. Enjoy a visual showcase of various dances from Mexico, adding Fiesta Folklorico's signature touch to regions such as Jalisco, Sinaloa, and Nayarit.
